Texas PT and PTA CEU requirements
What physical therapists and physical therapist assistants need to renew a Texas license, summarized from the board's own rules. Last checked October 23, 2026.
Required topics
- The Texas Jurisprudence Assessment Module (TX JAM)
- An HHS-approved human trafficking prevention training course
Rules to know
- Every activity you count must be approved through the Continuing Competence Approval Program (CCAP), run by the Texas Physical Therapy Association.
- The board audits a sample of licenses renewed each quarter, so keep your certificates.
- One contact hour equals one continuing competence unit (CCU).
Official sources
- Texas Board of PT Examiners: Continuing competence
- 22 Tex. Admin. Code § 341.1, Requirements for renewal
This is a plain-language summary to help you plan. Rules change and your board has the final word, so confirm with the sources above before you renew. These are physical therapy rules: OTs renew through the state's occupational therapy board, and athletic trainers also keep their BOC certification.
