Dry needling in Texas: the rules for physical therapists
Texas's PT board treats trigger point dry needling as within PT scope, and a 2016 Texas Attorney General opinion (KP-0082) found a court would likely uphold the board's authority to do so. No rule sets training hours, so you need training that makes you competent.
Rules to know
- The AG's reasoning ties dry needling to the PT rules' definition of using physical agents in diagnosis or treatment (22 TAC § 321.1).
