Kansas PT and PTA CEU requirements
What physical therapists and physical therapist assistants need to renew a Kansas license, summarized from the board's own rules. Last checked October 24, 2026.
Required topics
- PTs: the Kansas jurisprudence assessment module from the board and FSBPT, each cycle (counts for 1 hour)
Rules to know
- Licenses renew every year, but proof of hours is only sent with the renewal in odd-numbered years.
- Every activity must relate to the practice of physical therapy.
- If you were first licensed within a year of an odd-year renewal, you don't need hours for it; between one and two years, you need half.
- A contact hour is 60 minutes, not counting meals and breaks.
Official sources
- Kansas Register: K.A.R. 100-29-9 as amended in 2022
- K.A.R. 100-29-8, License renewal and expiration date
This is a plain-language summary to help you plan. Rules change and your board has the final word, so confirm with the sources above before you renew. These are physical therapy rules: OTs renew through the state's occupational therapy board, and athletic trainers also keep their BOC certification.
