Texas OT and OTA CEU requirements
What occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants need to renew a Texas license, summarized from the board's own rules. Last checked October 24, 2026.
Required topics
- An HHSC-approved human trafficking prevention training course, each renewal period (up to 2 hours count toward the 24) (human trafficking by state)
Rules to know
- Courses approved or offered by AOTA or the Texas OT Association are pre-approved. You don't have to use a specific provider; other activities count if they meet Chapter 367 of the OT rules.
- An AOTA or TOTA human trafficking course counts only if HHSC also approves it.
- You attest to your CE when you renew, entering it in the online form that opens 3 months before your license expires. Keep documentation for 4 years after the end of the renewal period in case you're audited.

This is a plain-language summary to help you plan. Rules change and your board has the final word, so confirm with the sources above before you renew. If you also hold NBCOT certification, NBCOT has its own renewal requirements.
