District of Columbia OT and OTA CEU requirements
What occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants need to renew a District of Columbia license, summarized from the board's own rules. Last checked October 24, 2026.
Required topics
- 2 hours of LGBTQ cultural competency (cultural competency and health equity by state)
- 10% of your hours on the public health priorities the DC Health Director publishes (see the 2025 notice)
Rules to know
- Hours must be done in the 2 years before your license expires.
- You certify your hours on the renewal application. The board audits a share of licensees, so keep proof of each course: dates, hours and the sponsor's verification.
- DC is moving every license to a birth-month renewal date. During the move, licensees whose term was shorter than 2 years need only half the CE.
