What occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants need to renew a Alaska license, summarized from the board's own rules. Last checked October 24, 2026.
Required topics
None. Any course that meets the rules below counts.
Rules to know
- Instead of the hours, you can keep a current NBCOT certification (OTR or COTA).
- If you were licensed less than 12 months of the period, you need 12 hours, or to have passed the NBCOT exam in that time.
- At least half your hours must come from courses offered by an accredited school or a professional organization the board approves.
- Courses must contribute directly to your professional competency in occupational therapy.
- Don't send certificates with the renewal; keep them in case you're audited.
Official sources
This is a plain-language summary to help you plan. Rules change and your board has the final word, so confirm with the sources above before you renew. If you also hold NBCOT certification, NBCOT has its own renewal requirements.
